The Shephard Institute for the Prevention of Domestic Violence is a family advocacy initiative specializing in prevention of child abuse and neglect, and of spouse abuse, whether physical, psychological, emotional and/or sexual.

Providing safety and security with shelter services, this not-for-profit corporation also empowers the clients with access to crisis intervention counseling, post traumatic shock coping skills, stress reduction, and education in Life Skills Training.

In-house training reduces the recidivism in life situations, educating and empowering the clients individually with awareness, self-esteem, and skills in parenting, family relationships, and problem-solving.

In a relaxed and interactive atmosphere, classes include:

• Stress reduction - adults and children
• Programs for self awareness and self-esteem
• Parenting skills
• Teamwork activities for children
• Communication skills for personal relationships and on the job
• Problem solving
• Referral sources for medical, legal and psychological assistance
